FOR A GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL TAXATION

IN 2019, TAXCOOP PRESENTS ITS 1% CLIMATE STUDY AT COP25

At the 25th United Nations Climate Conference, on behalf of TaxCOOP, tax specialist Brigitte Alepin and the Honorable Louise Otis discussed the need to develop new alternative tax solutions to combat climate change and come to the aid of disaster victims.

The tax tools designed and discussed at the international level are now insufficient. They must be supplemented by means adapted to globalization, international tax competition and new information technologies. The climate emergency demands that we think differently and in this context, TaxCOOP is presenting its flagship solution “1% FOR THE CLIMATE” at COP25.

Towards global environmental taxation: new tools

“As the international community has been proposing for several years, we can no longer ignore the difficulties of implementing carbon pricing. Faced with an environmental emergency, the time is now right to develop new tax solutions complementary to those currently being proposed. The modernization of international taxation, in company with new technologies, allows unprecedented options for global environmental taxation that it is important to explore.”
